About this site
We publish independent reference material on the Moonshot AI Kimi model family — verified specs, honest comparisons and free tools. We are not Moonshot AI, we take no money from them, and every figure we publish traces to a primary source with a date on it.

Why this site exists
If you search for what a Kimi model costs, you mostly get two things: Moonshot’s own marketing, or blog posts that copied a price from another blog post that copied it from somewhere else. A striking number of those pages quote figures for models that have been discontinued for months.
That is a genuinely bad situation if you are trying to decide what to build on. So we built the resource we wanted: every current Kimi model, every price, every context window, each traced to Moonshot’s own documentation and stamped with the date we checked it.
Then we added the tools that were missing — a cost calculator that models cache hit rate, a comparison table you can actually sort, a visualizer that turns “1M tokens” into pages you can picture.
What makes this different
One source of truth
Every price and spec lives in a single structured file. When Moonshot changes something, one edit updates every page, table and calculator at once. No page can go stale while another stays correct.
Unknown is an answer
Where a figure has not been published we show a dash and say so. Our Kimi K4 page is entirely blank by design, because Moonshot has not announced such a model.
Dated, not timeless
Every page shows when it was last verified. Moonshot retired four model lines in under a year — a price without a date is not information.
We say the unflattering thing
Where a model is expensive, slow or beaten by a cheaper sibling, we write that. Our comparisons reach an actual verdict instead of concluding that it depends.
Who we are
Kimi K4 AI is run by a small independent group of developers who work with these models. We are not a company, not a research lab, and not a media organisation — and we would rather tell you that plainly than invent an about-us page full of stock photos and a fictional team.
What we can offer instead is a documented method. Our editorial policy sets out exactly how we source facts, what we do when something cannot be verified, how we use AI, and how we handle corrections. Judge us on that rather than on credentials.
What we cover
Every model in the Kimi family — currently 7 of them, from the discontinued K2 series through to K3 and the unannounced K4 — plus the guides, comparisons and calculators around them.
FAQ
Questions about this site
Is kimik4ai.com the official Kimi website?
No. This is an independent reference site with no affiliation to Moonshot AI. The official Kimi website is kimi.com and the official developer platform is platform.kimi.ai. We do not speak for Moonshot and cannot help with your Kimi account.
Why is the site called Kimi K4 AI if there is no Kimi K4?
Because we expect there will be. Moonshot has shipped K2, K2.5, K2.6, K2.7 and K3 in under a year. We cover every model that exists today and maintain a K4 page that will fill in when Moonshot announces one — until then it honestly says nothing is known.
How do you make money?
We intend to fund the site through advertising. As of now we run no ads, no sponsored content and no affiliate links. When that changes, ads will be clearly separated from editorial content and will never influence what we write.
Can you help with my Kimi account or API key?
No. We have no access to your account and no relationship with Moonshot support. For account, billing or API issues, contact Moonshot directly through kimi.com. We are glad to hear about errors on our own site.
Can I quote or link to your content?
Yes, and we encourage it. Quote reasonable extracts with attribution and a link back. Please do not republish whole pages. Our tools and analysis are original work; the underlying model specifications are facts belonging to their publisher.
